Since I’m petty and I’m fed up with people being like “Kate’s
done one project and it was a garden”,
here’s some facts:
PRE ENGAGEMENT
- Gap Year, spent part of it working in Chile for Raleigh International: Raleigh
International is a sustainable development charity. They work in remote, rural
areas to improve access to safe water and sanitation, build community
resilience, to sustainably manage natural resources and to protect vulnerable
environments
- Participated in the Don’t Walk Fashion Show while at St
Andrews: a fashion show, founded in response to 9/11. Kate modelled in only its
second year.
- Co-founded the Lumsden Club: an all-female group who carry out charity events
- Attended Boodles Boxing Ball in aid of SPARKS: a children’s medical research charity
- Trained with Sisterhood to row the channel: Money raised from the race went to Babes
in Arms and CHASE. BIA researches cot deaths and still births, CHASE is a children’s hospice charity
- Organised the Time to Reflect art exhibition for UNICEF: unicef is the world’s leading organisation working for children in danger
- Attended Boodles Boxing Ball in aid of Starlight: a wish-granting charity for terminally ill children
- Organised the Roller Disco, which raised funds for Tom’s Ward and
Place2Be: Tom’s Ward is at the Children’s Hospital in Oxford, Place2Be is now one of her patronages
POST ENGAGEMENT
- Wedding Fund, which supported 26 charities: these included Combat Stress, ACT,
Oily Cart Company, IntoUniveristy, Earthwatch
- Launched Coach Core with Will and Henry: provides young people
aged 16-21 years old who are not in education, training or employment with the
opportunity to become qualified sports coaches
- Involved in creation of M-PACT Plus: initiative to support
children, parents and families affected by parental drug and alcohol misuse
- Edited Huffington Post UK: did this on behalf of Young Minds Matter, and linked to Children’s Mental Health Week
- Heads Together: self-explanatory
- Launched Mentally Healthy Schools: provides reliable and practical resources to improve awareness,
knowledge and confidence in supporting pupils’ mental health
- Her Back To Nature garden: encourages children and families
to go outside, came up with cards for people to recreate at home
- Supported Backyard Nature: inspires children, families and communities to get outside and engage
with nature
- Launched Shout with W, H, and M: a text
messaging service for those who suffer from mental issues
- Created the King’s Cup
Regatta with Will: raised money for eight different charities
- Her Early Years Project: announced during symposium in 2018, has worked with a steering group, apparently will be announced later this year
- ALSO, she has 17 Patronages, used to be patron of the 100 Women Hedge Fund Initiative, works with the Scouts, has the GCVO, the RFO, and the Tuvalu Order
of Merit. She also has a military appointment
RUMOURS
- Cut her hair and donated the cuttings to the Little Princess Charity
- Was apparently visiting
hospices before her marriage and engagement (and was also doing so after her marriage)
- Worked with Starlight before her engagement and marriage
Literally all of these are just from the top of my head so… yes, she could do more. But she’s done more than just a garden
